Recently, the Revenue Commissioners contracted Version 1, a consultancy and services firm in Ireland, to produce several information and communication technology services. The move is another step forward in the company's multi-vendor strategy for obtaining ICT support.
As Silicon Republic reports, "Revenue's internal IT group will manage multi-vendor teams that include representatives from Accenture, Deloitte, IBM and Fujitsu, as well as Version 1."
The contract states that many teams will collaborate to develop new applications for tax and customs and deliver new business intelligence systems. In addition to these moves, the Revenue Commissioners will continue its march toward incorporating more service-oriented architecture, which will cut down on work expenditures, while increasing the efficiency of the company's systems.
The trend of adoption SOA has seen an increase lately, as several companies, such as Nationwide Building Society and the U.S. military, have begun shifting toward it. The U.S. Air Force recently contracted Northrop Grumman to implement SOA systems across its air and space command and control domains.
