The IT Governance Institute's fourth Global Status Report on the Governance of Enterprise IT found several major trends concerning India's technology divisions. For one, nearly 75 percent of those surveyed cited reliability concerns as a major reason why cloud computing adoption has been shunned.

However, on a positive note, more than 50 percent of respondents said their practices related to IT governance have improved the company's management of IT-related risks.

"Issues, such as cloud computing and IT governance, are gaining popularity among businesses in India and throughout Asia," said Niraj Kapasi, a member of the ISACA India Task Force, as well as an IT auditor. "There are many IT and business executives who are interested in gaining and sharing knowledge and case studies from regional and international companies."

Concerning IT governance, 95 percent of respondents consider it important when dealing with enterprise IT.

"Emerging technologies, such as cloud computing and outsourcing, can be managed effectively by integrating good governance over IT," said Ken Vander Wal, the international vice president of ISACA.

Another report conducted by the ISACA found 42 percent of surveyed businesses found management of IT-related costs as a main outcome of IT government practices.
