Placing an added emphasis on business process management as a core skill translates into a better performing organization, according to a new report from market research firm Gartner.
Companies that prioritize business process management outperform those that don't, and the gap will continue to widen during the next three years, Gartner predicts.
"Organizations are realizing that it's not enough to just focus on product delivery, but you have to consider the entire business process from start to end giving a holistic view of the organization to help meet customer requirements," Gartner research director John Dixon told V3.co.uk.
BPM helps companies promote and train employees on the best means for carrying out business processes.
And those that don't do this, Dixon warns, will eventually have their weak processes exposed publicly. The report also revealed "bad business processes" will "topple" 10 of the global 2,000 companies.
A recent report from the Info-Tech Research Group also highlights the importance of business process management. The report highlights the challenges to implementing effective business process management and offers several pieces of advice for companies.
